Over the years, I have been asked what the secret is to the success of our players, and I always respond by saying there is no secret involved. It's simply a matter of evaluation, seamless communication and trust.
The players who come through KWB, do not reach their potential overnight. In fact, I am a believer that you never really reach your potential because you're always striving to get better each and every day, week, year, etc.
The hard work and dedication happens when no one is looking. It happens in the facility where there are no fans, media or camera's around to document their every move. No one knows they are in there working relentlessly to hone their craft. They are surrounded by their peers and mentors, who have the same passion and drive to develop their talent, as they do.
I can't really put into words what the feeling is like to be submerged into workouts with players who have that passion. Who have that drive to get better and learn. Players that feed off one another and really become a fraternity of professionals. They don't have to be professionals to act like one. Just being around a professional environment, breeds that professionalism and character.
Through all of this, we develop the player to teach themselves to understand what is going to work best for them. When they go back to their teams or off to the next level, they are prepared to take the information provided to them and differentiate between what's going to help them and what is not.
I think players sometimes listen too much to what is said without knowing what information is going to help them. This ends up confusing the player and their development is stalled. This is one of the reasons we teach our players to understand their game as best as they can.
Honestly, I wish I could tell you that we have the magic potion and have come up with the latest and newest way to do things. But, we do not "power-teach." We do not make it complicated. We do not tell our players something and not explain the "how" factor. We do not re-invent the wheel....
I could go on and on, but the fact is that we try and do things the right way and make it fun to workout. As a staff, we do not know everything and never will. That would be cheating our players as well as ourselves. We learn as much from the player, as the player learns from us. I really believe that.
So what's the secret? I guess you'll just have to come in and find out yourself!

What They're Saying About KWB:
"Kevin has been helping me with my game for many years now. His helpful tips and pointers were a huge reason for my success throughout high school. He continuously worked with me throughout the winter to get ready for my senior season of high school baseball and the MLB draft. His experience and professional approach are what sets Kevin apart from other coaches. Kevin is patient and doesn't tell a hitter how to hit. Instead he helps them figure it out their own way; the way that works best for them. Kevin is a guy who really puts his heart into his players. I'm currently in my first year of pro ball and even though he’s hundreds of miles away, he is still helping me on and off the field. Kevin was my baseball coach, but now he's my friend and someone who I enjoy listening to and learning from."
Sean Coyle (Boston Red Sox)
"Kevin is a reliable and dependable hitting coach that brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and patience to the table. He's not in it to change my swing. He helped me see and feel things that naturally I wouldn't notice. He knows what he's talking about and has the credentials to back it up. It doesn't matter who you are (1st rounder or 50th rounder), he's going to do whatever he can to help you succeed. I started working with Kevin and went from an 8HR-guy to a 17HR-guy in one year. But beyond baseball, Kevin is a great guy. I enjoy working with him because he cares a lot about the game, and genuinely cares about the people he works with."
Caleb Joseph (Baltimore Orioles)
“Kevin has been a great mentor on and off the field for me. He has helped my game both mentally and physically. He has allowed me to take my game to the next level by tweaking parts of my swing that has dramatically helped. He has never demanded me to change my swing. Rather, he just offered good advice that he truly thought would help me the most. His great knowledge of hitting and the game of baseball will help any player at any level. My relationship with Kevin goes beyond baseball. We have become close friends and I know he is there for me when I need it. I know he truly cares about me well beyond the field of play. “
John Barr (Cleveland Indians)
“Kevin worked every morning all offseason with me on the mental approach and hitting mechanics of the swing. He would find ways to word things so I could comprehend and then apply it to my own swing style. I never felt more prepared going into a spring training than I did this year and it showed when I had my best performance of my career. Every year I'm notorious for getting off to a slow start ,while I wipe off the rust from a long offseason indoors. That wasn't the case this spring. Kevin had me seeing the ball in the zone like it was midseason.”
Carl Loadenthal (Washington Nationals)

That's great stuff willy.. Hardwork wasn't made for people who need an audience.. It's about digging deep down inside to find that drive to get better everyday,, when noone is in the stands.. When no one is there to push you but yourself, that creates a fire down inside that drives professionals to get better, stronger, and mentally ready to do work during this upcoming season.. Thank you- Grosie
